Product Development Engineer

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role in Aveiro for a Junior Product Development Engineer at Ferral – José Luís & Ca. Lda.

The Junior Product Development Engineer will support the team in tasks related to product design, mechanical engineering, and research and development (R&D), contributing to the continuous improvement and innovation of our aluminium access solutions, including ladders and step stools.

The ideal candidate is someone with a strong technical foundation, eagerness to learn, and interest in product development, preferably with some experience in CAD tools and mechanical design. You will work under the guidance of a senior engineer and participate in the full product lifecycle, from concept to prototyping and testing.

Key Responsabilities

Assist in the design and development of new aluminium products (e.g. ladders, step stools)

Prepare and update technical drawings and documentation

Support prototype development and product testing

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, sales, quality)

Research materials, components, and manufacturing processes

Ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality standards

Qualifications

Basic experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion, Inventor)

Interest in product design and development

Good problem-solving and analytical skills

Ability to work in a team and follow guidance
